CHNLpro is the brainchild of entrepreneurs John Wander and Sverre Fjeldheim. It’s a game-changing technology platform that enables content producers to monetize their content through websites and mobile apps. CHNL partnered with us with one idea in mind: to achieve a solid, scalable, intuitive and immersive platform from where they could found the development of their star product. To do so, they had to rid themselves on the dependencies of an unmanageable legacy platform.

Our Java Lab worked to build and architect CHNL’s new foundations from the ground. In a period of five and half months we redesign, built and released a self serve platform for publishers to sell their digital content any way they like. And, most important, we accomplished a solid, strong codebase from where to build and scale the development of CHNL with confidence and direction.

To make this happen our team had to deal with a complex product with many business rules and moving pieces that have to align properly to make the plaftform work correctly. The features were extensive: multiple pricing and access rules flexible enough for most exigent clients, super simple (less than 60 seconds) product configuration to publish creation flow, video transcoding (accept any video codec and made avaiilable for streaming), Http Live Video streaming, iOS video streaming supportted on Wowza EC2 architecture, á la carté pricing for poducts inside of products, 24hr rental access, Donate to view access, sharing across major social networks, ability to pull in vimeo/youtube videos for promotional use, SEO optimization and complex configurations such as re-occuring monthly billing Subscriptions. Our Design Lab also worked to deliver a super clean an minimal interface where the publisher content shines.

To deal with the massive traffic expected for the launch of CHNLs most popular publishers our team ran a series of pre-launch load modeling and stress tests, leaving CHNLpro well prepared for even the most intense traffic loads.
